The HTC Leo Shaping Up To Be A Super High-End Smartphone

The first image and a set of specifications of the HTC Leo have appeared on he Web, showing that this model will be well supplied with high-end features.

HTC LeoAt the top of the feature list will be the display. According to an unconfirmed report, this Windows phone will have a 4.3-inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen. That would make it significantly larger than the 3.6 inch, WVGA display on the HTC Touch Pro.

In addition, the Leo will supposedly use a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 320 MB of RAM. It’s not clear what version of Microsoft’s OS it will run, but Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro is a safe bet.

An 8 MPx camera with auto-focus will round out the high-end features.

It will reportedly be a GSM phone with the HSDPA version of mobile broadband. Other wireless  capabilities will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and a GPS receiver.

The Leo will also allegedly have a microSD card reader and a 3.5 mm headset jack.

Based on the image of this model which accompanies thse specifications (at left), it won’t be a clamshell, as was previously rumored.

What About the Thoth?
Early this year, a roadmap of future HTC products leaked out. Over time, this has proved to be remarkably accurate.

The Leo isn’t listed on it, though. Instead, it has another uber-smartphone, the Thoth. This will apparently be the successor to the HTC Advantage series, and use the same general shape as the current model: a tablet with a large display and a detachable keyboard.

The Thoth will supposedly sport a WVGA touchscreen that’s considerably larger even than the one on the Leo: 4.8 inches.

Coming Soon? Probably Not
With the HTC Leo just now starting to apperaring in rumors and leaks, it’s likely months away from its release.

Pricing is unknown, but given its specifications, this will cleary won’t be an entry-level model.
