T-Mobile G1 Price Cut To 50
T-Mobile has dropped the cost of its original Android device to just $50. This price drop comes as this carrier is getting ready to launch its second smartphone running Google’s operating system
Previously, the T-Mobile G1 was going for $180. The official price now is $130 less.
The next Android-based model will be introduced next month. The T-Mobile myTouch 3G won’t replace the earlier model, but will instead give users a slimmer option without a built-in keyboard.
Still, the G1 has been on the market for 8 months now, and a price cut at this point is par for the course.
An Overview of the T-Mobile G1
The T-Mobile G1 is a consumer-oriented smartphone with a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, a QWERTY keyboard, GPS, and Wi-Fi. It also sports a microSD card slot and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
What makes the G1 special though isn’t the hardware, but that it’s the first device running Android, an operating system that was developed primarily by Google. This has a highly-functional web browser, and includes tie-ins to a number of this company’s online services, like Gmail and Google Maps.
There is also a rapidly growing collection of third-party software available.
To get the $50 price requires a two-year contract, and ordering the T-Mobile G1 from this carrier’s website.
